Colour Trends We’re Seeing in APAC Education Films | Catch Lyt
If the grade is the first thing you notice, the film is probably in trouble.
Colour trends move more slowly in education than in advertising, but they do move. The heavy teal-and-orange stylisation that was common a few years ago has been quietly receding. In its place: cleaner, slightly warmer skin, softer contrast, and more natural campus greens and interiors.
1. Trust beats a “look”
Education brands generally want to feel human and reliable. Aggressive stylisation can work against that.
2. Skin tone is the brief
Get faces right and the rest of the image usually follows. A fashionable cast that makes every student look slightly unwell is not a brand position.
3. Let the place keep its colour
Hong Kong and regional campuses have their own light and green. Flattening that into a global grade often costs more than it adds.
4. Noticeable grade, wrong job
This does not mean bland. It means the colour should serve the message, not audition in front of it.
The right approach still depends on the specific brand. The broader shift we are seeing is toward clarity and warmth rather than heavy stylistic intervention.
